Driving by the strip mall on the corner of Farmington and Plymouth Road, you may see people waiting outside for a table at this amazing Mexican restaurant. They now have reserve seating online, but still be ready to wait at least a half hour to over an hour for a table. They do not take reservations. But the wait is worth it.

You might be lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar, which is first come - first serve and can accommodate your entire meal. If you’re not lucky enough, you can still grab a tasty margarita at the full-service bar. They have margarita’s on tap, flights of margaritas, and my favorite a hand poured shaker margarita with a salted rim short glass.

The shaker margaita is a top-shelf, house favorite. It is made with El Mayor Barrel Select tequila, Grand Marnier, fresh lime and orange juice, a splash of pineapple juice, and homemade margarita mix. You can taste the tequila on the first sip, and would need a driver home especially if you have two. All for the low price of $16. Not bad in the craft margarita world. The house, on tap, margarita is the Palapa, another house favorite. It is made with Gold tequila, triple sec, and lime. You can even make it blue or pomegranate for an added $1. All for the low price of $10. After the second margarita, you will be glad that the bar stools have four legs and not three, or you would be on the floor - Dan. We also just discovered that they also do margarita flights with pretty tall glasses.

In your fight you can choose from the menu of various margarita’s from the house palapa, skinny raspberry, sangria swirl, hibiscus, cucumber jalapeño, spicy grapefruit, coconut lime, or the mangonada margarita. Drink a flight of them and you will be flying - Dan
Or if you just like to sample tequila….they have a few!!

They also serve other stuff too!
And now for the food…Is your palate ready for the most delicious appetizer? Fasten your seatbelts, you are going for a ride - Dan.

Can you say house made chorizo?! What might be the most simplest Mexican appetizer, Chorizo Con Queso dip, this is probably best, most flavorful version I have ever tasted, and I have tasted a few, just saying. The chorizo has the right amount of spiciness which is the perfect compliment to the warm, delicious creamy cheese. It coats your chips like a fur coat on an Eskimo -Dan.

This is served with house made chips and salsa. The only reason why I stopped eating it, was because I ran out of chips - Dan. Until they brought more. I thought Dan just might lick the bowl.

It was that good!!! I wish we could comment on the other appetizers, but seriously, this is an addiction. Once you order the Chorizo Con Queso, you won’t even know that they serve other appetizers. Or care - my chips hit the cheese like piranha’s on a wounded minnow -Dan.
The menu choices are enough to chose from, botanas, nachos, a variety of tacos including the biarria tacos, carne asada, seafood entrees, fajitas, salads and bowls, chicken entrees, enchiladas, quesadillas, burritos, as well other Mexican favorites like flautas, carnitas, chimichangas, tortas, and other speciality Mexican dishes. A little something for everyone. If you don’t like any of that, then why are you here - Dan.
Dan ordered the chicken chimichangas.

You can choose from chicken or shredded beef. This fried delight wrapped in a flour tortilla, topped with sauce, and a side of lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo is big enough that even Dan could not finish it. It is also served with rice and beans. It was just how I like it, a lot on a plate! - Dan.

I ordered one of the seafood dishes, Camarones A La Diabla. This is a dish of grilled shrimp, jalapeños, and grilled onions, sautéed in a fiery hot sauce served with rice, lettuce, avocado, and pico de gallo.

It was the right amount of hot without being too hot!!! Served with your choice of corn or flour tortillas, it made the perfect little bites wrapped in a tortilla.

A fresh jalapeño atop each shrimp, lined with a rail of fresh avocado, and pico de gallo, topped with a drizzle of salsa (not pictured), was the bomb!! Looking at Pam’s meal made me drool like Pavlov’s dogs - Dan.
So if you are looking for great margarita’s, fresh Mexican food, reasonable prices, and be in the know of the local popular Mexican restaurant, then you should try Las Palapas (at least once - but food and drinks just might make you a regular). The long waits speak for themselves, so bring your patience.
I can see why you devoured that con queso! It looks a lot like biscuits and gravy. Only way better, because it's Mexican and there's no gravy... but there's cheese....and tortilla chips instead of biscuits.
